Cincinnati
NOW is the Cincinnati chapter of the National Organization
for Women. As such, we are a grassroots organization
serving women and men committed to womens rights.
Following national NOWs lead, the Cincinnati chapter
is dedicated to taking action to bring about equality
for all women.
Among other things, NOW works to eliminate discrimination
and harassment in the workplace, schools, the justice
system, and all other sectors of society; secure abortion,
birth control and reproductive rights for all women;
end all forms of violence against women; eradicate racism,
sexism and homophobia; and promote equality and justice
in our society.
Meeting monthly, as we have for over 30 years, the Cincinnati
chapter of NOW provides a forum for education, support,
advocacy and activism. Monthly speakers provide education
about myriad topics pertaining to women and girls. We
also conduct various actions to bring awareness
to continuing injustice. These actions may include protests,
marches, letter-writing campaigns, petitions, performances,
information fairs, conferences, or any number of other
activities designed to increase awareness and make change
happen.

Cincinnati
NOW continues to work for equality:
- Because
worldwide, women and girls have yet to be
embraced as equals.
- Because
in this country, work is going on everyday
to ensure that access to safe and affordable
birth control and abortion is taken away.
- Because
women and girls continue to be beaten in
their homes.
- Because
women have yet to earn as much as men in
comparable jobs.
- Because
girls are in danger of losing Title IX which
allows them to grow in strength, confidence
and spirit.
- Because
gays, lesbians, bi-sexuals and transgendered
people are persecuted, hurt, discriminated
against and even killed.
- Because
women of color continue to be blindsided
by compounded oppressions.
- Because
poor women arent given a chance to
support themselves and their kids.
- Because
eating disorders and low self-esteem are
being spewed out of television and magazines.
- Because
racism is continued in the name of white
womanhood.
- Because
raising children and caring for elders has
yet to be seen as real work.
